Guidelines to Follow if You’ve Been Attacked by a Dog
Being attacked by a dog is one of the most terrifying encounters one can face. It is hard to know what to do in the middle of this experience and you may end up causing more harm to yourself as a result of panicking. If you find yourself facing the unveiled teeth of an angry canine, there are vital things you need to know to protect yourself.
Dogs are man’s best find and they make suitable house pets. Every now and then, dogs that have been poorly trained or which has been ill-treated view other humans as threats. Jogging or running near a dig like this might cause it to retaliate aggressively and whey will ease once you’ve gone.
If you are attacked by a dog, don’t panic. The last thing you’ll want to do if a canine runs at you is to intimidate it even more. If you flail your arms, run away, or even scream, it will tell the dog that you are afraid and this can invigorate it to carry on with the attack.
Show the right zeel. Dogs fraternize with each other by the energy they radiate, and they observe these same cues from humans. To deal with a dog that is ambushing you, you want to come across as harmonious but bold. You should stand side-on to the canine as this tells that you’re not looking to indulge in a fight and would also make you a limited target. To show the dog that you’re not afraid you should stand up straight and avoid eye contact with the dog as this would irritate it even more.
Divert the canine. In case the dog gets within reach for the above regulations, possible because it completely catches you by surprise, don’t let it bite you directly. In case you have long sleeves, you should pull our hands in and try seeing to it that the canine bites down on the sleeve. Do your best to remove the piece of clothing while the dog is gripping and seek safety.
In the worst-case scenario where the dog succeeds to get a grip of you, you should try to protect your head, torso, and neck as much as possible. If possible, try covering the eyes of the dog as it may become disengage and confused. In case there’s no other option than to strike back, do with conviction.
Call the police immediately if you manage to break free and seek protection. You can also file a dog bite lawsuit should your find yourself injured in such an ordeal to receive compensation. Filing for a dog bite lawsuit will also keep others safe from getting attacked by this dog in the future.
